Nov 30, 2005 · Strange that the L-frame (586, 686, 686+, etc.) has been around for a couple of decades, and yet there's only like two options out there for rubber grips that cover the backstrap and actually help with recoil: these, or the Pachmayr Diamond Pro grips. All the current 686's are round butt. They changed from square butt to round butt in the mid 1990's. However when it comes to grips they do make round to square conversion grips, I have some Hogue ones on my current 686.
