3 posts · Joined 2013. #1 · Jun 18, 2013 (Edited) hi have 2002 Chevy Malibu cranks but wont start ( meaning will turn motor over and over and over forever till battery dies ), have new fuel pump new fuel relay (new ignition for the key: " the electrical part that the key and key cylinder go into "), and new crankshaft position sensor.'05 Classic with the 2.2l Ecotec motor. Was running fine, starting fine, no problems. Yesterday I drove it to softball practice. When I go to start it to go home, it won't turn over. Cranks, but no start. It's cranking good, so I know the battery is good. I took off the Schrader valve and checked presence of fuel at the fuel rail.Took the MAF off and cleaned it, no difference. Disconnect the MAF, no difference. Disconnected the battery for half hour, no difference. Reading from the TPS tracks gas pedal movement and looks good. No matter what I've tried, it still does the same cranking with the occasional sputtering like it wants to start, but doesn't.\.Ignition System. The ignition system is the one tasked with creating and delivering spark to each of the 6 cylinders. Without spark, the engine will crank but not start. All of the bulb indicator lights should be on the dash when the ignition is on. This is a bulb test. We are going to have to do some testing at the starter wires. Down at the starter itself there are going to be 2 wire connections attached to it. One will be a larger diameter wire, and one will be a smaller wire.
